Identity document

The appearance of this product, written down before any of it is built, so that what gets built is what somebody decided rather than what an agent inferred. Every section below is a question Arena's style kernel asks. Answer it here, get the answer approved by whoever owns the product, and only then write arena.config.json and the style plugin: the file and the plugin are this document in the form a build reads.

Replace every dashed block. A block left as it is means the decision was never made, and a decision nobody made is one the build makes silently.

The product

What is being built, who works in it, and on what.

The product, its register, and who is pointing at it.

The register decides whether Arena's component list is the right one. A tool somebody works in is furniture Arena ships. A photo wall, a feed of posts, a slideshow, a document editor or a game map is markup you write, and the skin still travels.

The palette

Whose brand this is, which polarity leads, and which colour is the voice. Arena installs with Dravensoft's palette, and a project's own is the one entry it replaces.

The brand, the leading polarity, and where the colours come from.

Both polarities are declared or the build has one nobody authored. The categorical ramp is identity and the status colours are meaning, and a status colour is never a series colour.

The type

Which three faces: the display face, the body face, the mono face.

The three families, and where each one is served from.
Display
Body, which is what a paragraph of this product reads like at the size it is read at.
Mono 0123456789

The character

How round, how drawn, how heavy and how deep. One answer, because these move together: a product is soft, or drawn, or flat, and a plugin that mixes them reads as two products.

The character, in a sentence, and the roles it fixes.

The media

What shape a picture is, before any of it is cropped.

aspect-media and fit-media, and why the register asks for that shape.

The page

Arena ships the floor, the column, the air and the components, and no shape they must make. This is the shape.

The page shape, the column the content sits in, and the rhythm step between two components.

What this document does not settle

The copy, the brand mark, and whether anybody outside the product has to find it. That last one reaches the install and the layer rather than a screen, so it is settled here even though it is not an appearance: answer it.
